Help & FAQs

Everything you need to know about using SWAP FX.

What is SWAP FX?

SWAP FX is a peer-to-peer currency-exchange marketplace for international students living and studying in India. Individuals list the currency they have and the currency they need, compare transparent rates, and connect directly over WhatsApp to arrange the exchange. SWAP FX connects people; it does not hold or transfer anyone's money.

How do I exchange currency?

  1. Find an offer — use Find an Exchange or browse the Marketplace. Enter what you have, what you need, and the amount.
  2. Compare — offers are ranked by rate. Check the amount, the vendor's verification badge, and their history.
  3. Connect on WhatsApp — open the offer and tap the WhatsApp button to message the vendor directly. Agree the rate, amount, and meeting details in writing, then complete the exchange between your own accounts.

How do I post my own offer?

Create a vendor account: verify your phone with a one-time code, submit your details and a passport-style face photo, and wait for administrator review. Once Approved, the admin grants you the currencies you're allowed to supply — then you can publish offers from your Dashboard.

What does "Verified" actually mean?

Before anyone can publish an offer, a SWAP FX administrator reviews their application: their details, a phone-verification code, and a passport-style face photo. This is an administrator review, not an independent verification of anyone's legal identity. A face photo alone cannot prove who someone is. Verification reduces risk; it does not guarantee any transaction. Read the full safety guidance.

Does SWAP FX charge fees?

SWAP FX charges no fee. The rate you see on an offer is the vendor's own rate — what you agree with them is what you get. Always confirm the final rate and amount in writing on WhatsApp before exchanging.

Which currencies are supported?

African currencies exchanged against Indian rupees (INR) — including KES, NGN, GHS, UGX, TZS and more, covering all 54 African countries.

Is my information private?

Yes. Public offer listings show only an abbreviated name and a masked phone number. Your email, address, ID photo, and full phone number are never shown publicly — your full number is revealed only when someone opens the WhatsApp contact on one of your live offers.

Something went wrong — what do I do?

If a vendor behaved suspiciously or an exchange went bad, report them — reports go straight to the admin team for review. For anything else, reach us on WhatsApp via the contact option on any offer page.

SWAP FX never holds your money. Anyone asking you to "send funds to SWAP FX" is scamming you — report them immediately.
